What was dis_orientation?
Disorientation was a monthly live audiovisual performance night in Sydney that ran for about three years from 2003 to 2005, with a one-off postscript performance mid-2006.
It broadly concentrated on experimental and electronic music, as well as elements of performance art and experimental film, aiming to present challenging new work to as wide an audience as possible.
Organised by the UTS Sound
Collective, the event also made it a priority to showcase young and
emerging artists every month alongside more experienced and well known
performers. Originally held at Lanfranchis Memorial Discotheque in
Chippendale and later at the Abercrombie Hotel on
Broadway.
